REGULATORY/PLANNING ISSUES
Is the approval from the federal government really conclusive?  Does it mean that I-69 will actually be built?

The Tier 1 Study approved a corridor.  An exact alignment for I-69 still must be approved.  Individual Tier 2 environmental studies on all six sections of I-69 between Evansville and Indianapolis still must be completed.  After these studies are completed, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) must issue a Record of Decision (ROD) to approve the alignment in each section.   After the ROD for each Tier 2 section is approved, INDOT will proceed with final design, land acquisition, and construction on that section.  Completing I-69 between Evansville and Indianapolis remains one of the highest priorities of the Indiana Department of Transportation.  (Updated 11/14/07)
